Layer an outfit while you still can! Sadly, it’s not going to be boot and sweater weather for long. Sad face. I’ve had so much fun experimenting with layering patterned tights, boots, sweaters, and hats.
Let’s break it down why these elements are a must to make it easy to layer an outfit with ease.
HATS: Surely you’ve spotted them on the uber cool in every size, shape and color. For one, they mask a bad hair day; I’m talking 2 inch roots, week long dirty hair, and straight iron disasters. Yep, they’re lifesavers, so head over to PLANET BLUE off Knox/Henderson to choose from so many cute styles. (Hint: I’m wearing one from there.)
DENIM SKIRT: skip your jeans and choose a modern, deconstructed style that doesn’t scream Bongo from the 90’s. (if you don’t remember this brand, Google it – it’s hilar.) I fell in love with this one b/c it looked like culottes, but the high slit adds a bit of unexpected allure.
TIGHTS: who says that tights have to be boring? Is there one and only function to keep you warm? Heck no! Have some fun with pattern play to add some oomph to an otherwise simple outfit. Who doesn’t like a peep at an unexpected detail? (Fun fact: I found these in an bag meant for Goodwill years ago. They’re 10 years old. Before you say “gross”, they were still in package, never worn…just maybe a little dusty.)
BOOTS: need I say more? Tall boots were EVERYWHERE this season, and I don’t see them walking away anytime soon.
