We are given the opportunity to decide what life will be for us individually. We mature and, as life goes on, we start to learn more about who we are and what we were sent on this earth to do. More times than not, we get lost along the way, get distracted, or just give up. Sometimes we have support and sometimes we don’t. So you have to understand who YOU are as a person and what you were sent here to do – and that differs from person to person.
You have to understand who YOU are as a person and what you were sent here to do – and that differs from person to person. Share on XLet me ask a quick question: On a scale from 1-10 with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, how confident are you about yourself as a person? Think about your long-term goals in life, your dream – how confident are you about YOURSELF that you can get there? Are you setting your path for that success?
If your confidence score is a 8 or above then you are confident in your abilities to get where you want to be in life. For the others that are 7 and below, ask yourself, why is your confidence level so low?
I’m here to tell you from MY personal experiences that YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO; it doesn’t matter what anyone says. If you believe it, you can achieve it. As simple as these words may sound, they are very true!
I was always taught that as long as you can see the vision and know how you’re going to get there, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. Sometimes people get jealous and sometimes people just don’t understand why you do what you do – it’s not for them to understand anyway!
Think about if you lived your life based on what other people think of you. How happy of a life would you really have? And for those that have been living their lives based off of other peoples’ opinions, are you really living your dream, or theirs?
When is the last time you looked in the mirror and said, “ I am somebody ”? When is the last time you’ve given yourself a pat on the back for doing something good? When is the last time you’ve given yourself a positive speech to push yourself out of the box? These are all qualities of learning and knowing who you are as a person that no one can figure that out but YOU.
Once you figure out WHO YOU ARE as a person, the sky is the limit! Know who you are within and no one can take that away from you. Each person is unique in their own way! BE YOU and know that YOU ARE SOMEBODY – so start acting like it.
Quick story:
There was a man named Joe and he came from a wealthy family. Joe was never the type to fully apply himself in school; he took a lot of shortcuts but one thing he LOVED was football. He went to college to play but decided college wasn’t for him so he dropped out, even with his football scholarships.
During his early adult years, Joe went through life just going through the motions. He didn’t know what he wanted out of life yet. He got a job at the local bank and stayed there for a few years. Eventually he ran into a nice young lady named Tiffany and they had a great connection. They eloped and started a family.
Tiffany was a very confident, middle-class woman. Tiffany had her Bachelor’s degree and then decided she wanted to go to law school and became a lawyer. Joe watched his wife and supported her along her journey until one day she asked him what he wanted out of life. Joe had worked at the bank for 10 years and he was content with that. His father and mother didn’t give him much mentorship or support and he understood and was okay with that, but they didn’t know the real Joe like Tiffany did.
Tiffany knew that Joe loved the game of football so much. His ultimate dream was to coach college football but he told his wife that he had given up on it. Tiffany supported her husband as she always had done and told Joe that he could do anything he put his mind to, but it was up to him to make it happen.
After 2 years, Joe told his wife it was time to make a change and that he wanted to go back to school to get his degree so that he could coach. Joe was tired of living a life that he didn’t want and he knew that in order for him to do what he ultimately wanted to do, Coach Football, he had to have a plan and reach for the stars. When he did that, he finally got his degree and got a Division 2 coaching position.
Moral of the story is: “It’s not about how you start, it’s about how you finish.”
Don’t watch your life pass you by – be who you truly you are and live with no regrets. Say to yourself: ” I am somebody. ”

Such a great reminder! I think we let the trap of comparison hold us back from truly being confident in ourselves. If we could see no one else’s accomplishments but our own, would the way we see ourselves be any different? I think so!
Whitney Kutch says
OH YES!!!! We are always looking at another persons plate. Comparison can be great to help guide you and learn from others doing what you want to do but we have to make sure we are not crossing the line of self doubt by watching others.

I think I’m finishing a whole lot better then who I started out as. With this newly acquired knowledge I try to lead and encourage my daughter. As a child you are oblivious but, it will be ok. “This too shall pass.”, is what I always try to let her know.
Whitney Kutch says
Such a great mom and its funny because my mom would always tell me that and I still live to it today!! It will pass faster than we think!
Stephanie says
What a great reminder! It’s so easy to lose confidence in yourself, but also important to make sure to build yourself up.
Whitney Kutch says
Yes it is and it takes building daily to get there even if it is just a small bit at a time.
Jasmin N says
I’m pretty confident, I know I’ll get where I want but I’m too lazy to do anything about it so I’ll probably be there when I’m 70-something.
But seriously, we all end up where we were meant to be 🙂
Whitney Kutch says
haha!! I love your honesty… You are doing a great job!!

Katja says
It’s never too late, you’re never too old, nothing is ever too stagnant for you to make a change and start your life all over again. It’s only ourselves that hold us back. I feel proper inspired now! Thanks Whitney!

Exactly and to always keep moving forward…. I once went to college and there was a lady who was 73 years old in my class who found out what she wanted to do. Its never too late!!

I absolutely think that what we learn along the travels of our life empowers us to be the best of us that we can possibly be 🙂
Whitney Kutch says
You are very right!! Trial and error… And we thought our parents knew nothing when we were teenagers. haha
Glenda says
I think the older I get the more confident I feel about myself and the things I want to accomplish in life. It is up to us to get where we want to be.
Whitney Kutch says
It is a lot of trial and error for sure!! If we could just go back and tell our younger self what we know now…
Candice says
“You have to understand who YOU are as a person and what you were sent here to do – and that differs from person to person.” <– THIS. It's so important. <3
Whitney Kutch says
yes it is!! I see so many people doing things they think they are supposed to do because of parents, spouse…etc and its not what they truly want for themselves.
David Elliott says
That’s great he was able to go back to football after all that time and do something he was passionate about. You really do need to know yourself in order to thrive though. And not all people do.
Whitney Kutch says
It takes time… Just like changing our majors in college a million times to get out and realize we still want something else. Everyday is a new day to just be happy and figure it all out!
David Allen Elliott says
It’s just such a beautiful story. That his wife would know who he was and give him the courage to do what he wanted to do. And he went on and got that coaching career he was looking for. Beautiful story.
Whitney Kutch says
Yes, I think my favorite part is how she stood by him no matter what and gave him the chance to figure it all out…
Journa Ramirez says
Sometimes, we think that we are just here to live and die eventually. But as we grow older, we get to know more about our purpose in this world. You are somebody, I am somebody. He is somebody, She is somebody!
Whitney Kutch says
Yes and you are right sometimes it takes us getting a little older and wiser to realize its not just going through the motions.
Ray Ruzzo says
Thank you for this. I’ve been working very hard to reclaim my life and my voice after almost 30 years of settling for just getting by. I want to shine.
