Everyone that I know has their favorite healthy smoothie recipe. But what’s really important to me when creating mine is that I understand and take advantage of all the health benefits that each and every ingredient has. You can find out all the details in the video above, but I’ve also broken things down a bit for you here:
Did you know that there is a correct order to add your ingredients to the blender?
- Liquids
- Dry goods (grains, seasonings, powders)
- Leafy greens
- Fruits and vegetables
- Ice (cubed ice, not crushed!)
So what does my favorite healthy smoothie have in it? Well, I typically just eyeball my ingredients, so the measurements below are approximate – feel free to adjust to your tastes!
- Approximately one cup of unsweetened, original almond milk
- One scoop of protein powder (Quest Vanilla is my favorite!)
- One scoop bone broth collagen
- A tablespoon of chia seeds (or to taste)
- One scoop macro greens powder
- One cup of spinach (or kale, if you prefer)
- Approximately a cup of frozen blueberries (instead of ice)
If you find it a bit too thick at the end, just add a little filtered water or almond milk. And, tada! You have an easy, healthy smoothie chock FULL of good things for your body.
Check out the full video above for details about WHY I use each and every one of the ingredients. What’s your favorite smoothie? Let me know in the comments below!
