It took me a while to come out of the blogger closet. Why? Because when people would ask “What do you do?”, I didn’t know exactly how to describe my “title”. Is “lifestyle blogger” even considered a “job”? Is “blogger” even an official word yet according to Miriam-Webster? Questions and insecurities flying through my mind made it impossible to answer within the 3 seconds to answer a direct question before it gets really awkward.
So, i searched and googled. I needed a black and white, ‘respected’ online resource to confirm what exactly my job responsibilities were.

As I’ve navigated through my own journey, here’s my version:

As a blogger, I have a non-conventional job that allows me to stay in my robe while writing, editing photo layouts, and editing videos for my YouTube channel. Basically, life as a blogger is a complete anomaly: “The girl in the robe with greasy hair” versus “the girl in the know with stylish clothes.” Reality? 80% of the time I’m behind a computer while only 20% (at most) I’m front of a camera. And, guess what? I love every second of it.
Designers create clothes. Writers create books. Bloggers create a lifestyle experience: They have 2 things in common:
1. They are judged on talent by an audience: whether big or small.
2. They are fulfilled creating their artistic expression. In essence, CREATIVES ENJOY CREATING….even if they’re not making money. Like me – yet.
So, what do I blog about, and why?
fashion. I style outfits, glam up, and find cool walls in cool areas around town, then “effortlessly” stroll down sidewalks…..all while a photographer follows me around and shoots…so very natural, right?). Is it fun? YES. Is it glamorous? sometimes. Is it narcissistic? NO (speaking for myself here). I think this is a huge misconception of blogging, but I’m working all day finding inspiration, constantly scribbling notes, and constructing my next blog post around that moment in time. I work out a well orchestrated design aesthetic that is authentic to me, and in turn, hopefully inspire you to re-create, de-construct, or maybe combine a color combination you never thought of. Or maybe you see a wall you want to shoot your next blog shoot.
food. Whit’s Kitch , my You tube series!!!! It took me 6 months to take a random thought one day -> into concept -> into production -> planning schedule with guests -> shooting the episode -> editing -> editing -> and more editing. This is my blood, sweat tears. GO SUBSCRIBE!
beauty. I’m a skincare junkie and makeup addict. and I’ll test masks, devices, lip glosses, and basically anything/everything that promises to be the fountain of youth. Consider me your guinea pig for all things beauty: even the ugly!
design: My home is my haven. I designed and decorated the entire home, so there’s a part of my soul in every room I walk into. I was able to put my artistic expression and design stamp in every aspect. (with the occasional sacrifice for my husband). The mere process of mixing 2 totally different aesthetics, his being ranch style / mine being eclectic, made it a challenge to finally accomplish what I call “contemporary ranch”. Wait, is that considered a legit architectural style? WHO CARES!! it’s our unique style and I’m owning our authentic style. Just like my “title”, I’m owning my title: “lifestyle blogger”. Loud and Proud.
